TURESPAÑA OPENS THE APPLICATION PROCESS TO HOST THE 7TH CONVENTION IN 2027

  • The deadline for submitting expressions of interest is 30 June 2026 inclusive.

  • Candidate destinations must have adequate hotel and conference facilities, as well as good accessibility.

  • The host city will be announced during this year’s convention in Zaragoza.

The Spanish Tourism Institute (Turespaña), an autonomous body attached to the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, has published information on the submission of expressions of interest to host the seventh edition of the Turespaña Convention, which will take place in October 2027.

Applications may be submitted until 30 June 2026 at 14:00. The selected city will be announced during this year’s October convention in Zaragoza.

Spanish tourist destinations interested in hosting an event that has established itself as a key date in the national tourism sector are eligible to apply.

Aspiring destinations must meet a series of requirements to submit their application, including having adequate hotel and conference facilities, as well as ensuring proper accessibility. They must also design and propose a social programme and activities for participants. Turespaña will be responsible for the overall organisation of the event and the associated costs.

The 7th Turespaña Convention will be held in October 2027, likely during the week of 4 or 18 October. Over three days, it will bring together more than 500 participants, including representatives from the regional and local tourism sector, tourism marketing professionals, key players in international air connectivity, as well as the Turespaña team and its network of regional offices abroad.

As in previous editions, the programme will be structured into two main sections: on the one hand, bilateral meetings between the Regional Tourism Representatives abroad and Turespaña staff with the various destinations; and, on the other, discussion forums and presentations focusing on current issues in the tourism sector.

The organisational schedule and evaluation criteria are available on the Turespaña website. Key criteria include the suitability of the venues for the Convention’s needs, the destination’s organisational capacity, and the proposed working team.

The first edition of the Turespaña Convention was held in 2021 in Seville, followed by Barcelona (2022), Donostia / San Sebastián (2023), the island of Tenerife (2024) and Cáceres (2025). This year, 2026, Zaragoza will host the 6th Turespaña Convention.

The Turespaña Convention is thus established as a forum for meeting and collaboration between Turespaña, its network of regional offices abroad and Spanish tourist destinations. This platform facilitates the exchange of best practices, strengthens joint tourism marketing planning and provides first-hand insight into industry trends and initiatives, whilst fostering synergies with local professionals.
