The calendar is rounded off with Ankara’s role as a benchmark for Turkish tourism, the Tourism Investment Forum in Istanbul and the women’s EuroVolley final, consolidating the nation as a key venue for diplomacy, the economy and international sport.
Turkey will become the global stage in 2026. Through an ambitious agenda combining high-level geopolitics, environmental commitments and elite sporting events, the country seeks to reaffirm its organisational capacity and influence in global decision-making.
The most significant event will be the NATO Summit in Ankara, a high-level meeting that will bring together heads of state, government officials and security experts to discuss the main challenges facing international security, regional stability and developments in the geopolitical context.
That same year, Ankara will also host the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP31, which will address progress and challenges in the fight against climate change. Negotiations will focus on reducing emissions, adapting to climate impacts, financing the energy transition and international cooperation.
Beyond these major events, Ankara will assume the role of Tourism Capital of the Turkic World throughout 2026. A continuous programme of cultural, institutional and promotional activities will be developed throughout the year, including festivals, exhibitions, academic meetings and tourism events. This initiative seeks to highlight the historical and cultural heritage shared by Turkic peoples, strengthen ties between countries and communities, and promote long-term cultural and tourist exchange. This calendar will run throughout the year and will have a direct impact on the city’s international profile.
In the field of sport, Istanbul will host the final of the European Women’s Volleyball Championship (EuroVolley). This event will bring together the best teams on the continent and attract thousands of fans, media and international delegations. Hosting this final reinforces Istanbul’s role as a host city for major sporting competitions and contributes to the visibility and promotion of women’s sport at European level.
The 2026 agenda will be rounded off with the Tourism Investment Forum in Istanbul. This event will bring together investors, representatives from the private sector, public officials and international experts to analyse current trends in tourism, identify investment opportunities and discuss sustainable development models.
Thus, this concentration of international events not only reinforces the country’s diplomatic image, but also boosts its economy and tourism positioning, demonstrating that Ankara and Istanbul are venues capable of leading the most pressing debates of our era.
