WINE GOLDEN MILE PRESENTED IN MEXICO BY GRUPO PRESIDENTE AND AEROMÉXICO

  • The Golden Mile of Wine is conducting an international tour from 20 to 26 November to make its first appearance in a joint venture with Grupo Presidente and Aeroméxico.

  • The presentations are being held at some of Grupo Presidente’s finest hotels in Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Monterrey.

  • Michelin-starred chef Miguel Ángel de la Cruz and winemaker Iván Sanz are the ambassadors for the Spanish wine tourism brand.

The Golden Mile of Wine brand, a mark of excellence in wine tourism in the province of Valladolid, has recently embarked on a promotional tour of Mexico, joining forces with two giants of tourism and hospitality in the North American country: Grupo Presidente, Mexico’s leading hotel chain, and Aeroméxico, the leading airline with five daily flights between Mexico and Spain.

This strategic alliance has made it possible to bring the essence of the Golden Mile of Wine—its iconic Ribera del Duero wines, its excellent cuisine and its impressive historical heritage—to three of the most important cities in the Mexican market: Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey.

Activities include exclusive dinners, guided tastings and meetings with influencers, all designed to showcase the unique identity of this wine tourism destination, which is home to some of Spain’s most prestigious wineries, five-star hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants.

Luxury ambassadors to present a unique destination

During the tour, attendees are enjoying the creations of Valladolid-born chef Miguel Ángel de la Cruz, holder of a Michelin Star, a Green Star and two Repsol Suns, owner of La Botica de Matapozuelos and culinary advisor to Castilla Termal Monasterio de Valbuena. The oenological side is represented by Iván Sanz, owner of the iconic Dehesa de los Canónigos winery, one of the great names of the Ribera del Duero region.

Both share experiences with the chefs at Grupo Presidente restaurants (Bistro La Bastille, Amaral and Lilou Monterrey) and with Luis Morenés, Grupo Presidente sommelier and Ribera del Duero Ambassador in Mexico.

The initiative has been made possible thanks to the collaboration between Aeroméxico, the Valladolid Provincial Council — owner of the tourism brand — and Grupo Presidente, and represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen ties with the Mexican market, one of the main international audiences for the Golden Mile of Wine.

The Spanish Ambassador to Mexico showed his support for this initiative by attending the event, which was also attended by the director of Tour España in Mexico, directors of Mexico’s leading luxury travel agencies and prominent businesspeople from the country.

The Golden Mile of Wine - province of Valladolid

The Golden Mile of Wine covers a 40-kilometre stretch along the River Duero, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero region and just an hour from Madrid by high-speed train. It is the area with the highest concentration of high-quality wineries in Spain, five-star hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants and an exceptional historical heritage, with monasteries and medieval castles.

Its international profile has recently been boosted by media coverage of events held at hotels in the area, such as the famous ‘Wedding of the Year in Spain’ at Le Domaine – Abadía Retuerta, for the daughter of actor Antonio Banderas, and the wedding of Mexican artist Carlos Rivera at the medieval monastery of Santa María de Valbuena, now a five-star hotel.

Accolades

The Golden Mile of Wine brand – Province of Valladolid is now an international benchmark for excellence in tourism. Among other accolades, it has been selected as a global success story at the 43rd World Congress of Vine and Wine, as well as one of the best communication campaigns in Spain.

Mexico and the Golden Mile of Wine

Mexican tourists with high purchasing power are currently the main foreign visitors to the Golden Mile of Wine: they book the best rooms, consume high-end wines, seek out unique vintages and enjoy the region’s cuisine, with waiting lists of months in some establishments.
