- A Vilerma is a historic Ribeiro wine produced in a winery recently acquired by the Prieto Pariente brothers: its 2024 vintage is the first to be produced by the Castilian winemaker. It is ideal for pairing with seafood, fish, white meats and rice dishes.
- Victoria, the brand’s only rosé, is a gastronomic wine that combines the structure of a red with the lightness of a white; it is perfect with smoked foods, appetisers and fish.
The time of year is approaching when toasting is almost obligatory. For family, for friends, for those who are no longer with us and for those who have arrived, for happy reunions and homes that are bustling once again. Christmas, New Year, Three Kings Day and a host of other occasions are here, inviting us to fill our glasses to the brim and wish for only good things to come. As on all special occasions, Pariente Tradición Familiar—which includes the José Pariente and Prieto Pariente wineries and its latest acquisition, A Vilerma, in Ourense—offers us two unmissable labels. One is Victoria, 2024, a tribute to the founder of José Pariente, an exquisite rosé that combines the best of reds and whites. And its other gem is A Vilerma 2024, the first vintage of one of the great Ribeiros, which, for the first time, has been made entirely by Martina Prieto Pariente, technical director and winegrower of this family label rooted in Rueda and Castile, with a lot of soul put into Galicia.
White Christmas with a perfect white wine: A Vilerma 2024
Ribeiro is one of the oldest designations of origin in Galicia. Enamoured with the area and its wineries, the Prieto Pariente family acquired one of the pioneering wineries in the recovery of Ribeiro’s native varieties a year ago. We are talking about the ‘darling’ of this wine’s Golden Mile, the A Vilerma winery, owned by Arsenio Paz, the pope of Ribeiro.
A Vilerma 2024 retains all the nuances that made it one of the great Ribeiros in its day. But the 2024 vintage has something special: it is the first to be made entirely by Martina Prieto. It is a pure Ribeiro with, admittedly, a little bit of Castilian spirit.
A Vilerma 2024 is a wine with Atlantic influences, with nuances of plants such as fennel and bay leaf, hints of apple, stone fruit and citrus, a slight hint of wet stone and a light floral touch. On the palate, it is complex and elegant. The presence of fruit is very noticeable (apple, melon, stone fruit), with a certain pleasant herbaceous note. It has balanced acidity and a persistent, salty finish.
At the Christmas table, it pairs well with…
It is the ideal pairing for seafood, fish, white meats, rice dishes and fresh cheeses. Without a doubt, a wine to toast with again and again.

A rosy Christmas... with a rosé flavour
Who said rosés are only for the warmer months? Victoria certainly has enough character to be one of the stars of any festive table. This wine was created as a declaration of love from Martina and Ignacio, the second generation, to Victoria, their mother and the founder of the winery. They devised a blend capable of encompassing the best characteristics of whites and reds. Devoted winegrowers, they found varieties that offer body and structure in their old family vineyards of Garnacha and Tempranillo. And to refresh, of course, a young Viognier, aged in their terroirs of La Seca (Valladolid).
The result is a distinctly gastronomic wine. Pale pink in colour, it is elegant and intense on the nose, very fruity, with notes of strawberry, raspberry, pomegranate and blackberry and a finish of rose petals and jasmine. On the palate, Victoria is balanced and unctuous, persistent and fresh, with notes of cherry.
At the Christmas table, it pairs well with…
It is the ideal companion for appetisers and is exceptional with fish and seafood dishes, as well as salads, pasta and rice dishes. It is also perfect with all kinds of smoked foods and mild cheeses.
