Located in the ancient city of Ephesus, the Ephesus Expereince Museum is one of the first museums in the world to combine experiential museology with historical narrative, allowing visitors to discover and experience the daily life of its inhabitants, the trade, the architecture, the history and art of this historic city in its golden age.
Located in the Aegean city of Izmir, Ephesus was once one of the largest port cities of its time. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015, it has been inhabited since Neolithic times, reaching its peak during the Roman Empire and becoming the capital of Asia Minor. The second most important city of the empire experienced a remarkable growth and prosperity of its generally educated and enlightened inhabitants, was reflected in its virtuously decorated dwellings.
Today Ephesus is one of the best preserved ancient cities in the Mediterranean region, attracting thousands of visitors every year to admire such gems as the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the impressive 25,000-seat theatre, the Library of Celsus, one of the largest in antiquity, and the terraced houses, yet another example of the ostentatious Roman elite.

On a surface area of 2,400 square metres and with the possibility of welcoming 2,200 visitors every day, this innovative museum space designed by Atelier Breckner invites you to let yourself be carried away by the mystical atmosphere of antiquity. It has been designed by an important group of architects, designers, artists, technology experts, historians and archaeologists from leading companies and institutions in Turkey and the rest of the world.
Divided into three interconnected rooms, it reveals the founding, heyday and majestic end of the ancient city of Ephesus. And it does so with a three-dimensional sound design that extends throughout the rooms and a rich musical composition. Suggestive ancient melodies and the whispering of people who seem to have been reborn to tell us in first person what daily life was like for their inhabitants and to unveil the mysteries of the ancient world. An unforgettable experience complete with 360-degree projections that create realistic spatial images that are enhanced with state-of-the-art audio technology, as well as elements such as smell or fog that are perceived with different sounds; all ingredients that combine to perfection and allow us to travel through the streets of the ancient city that thrives and pulsates with vitality.

Recognition of a wonderful idea
Managed by DEM Museums, the Ephesus Expereince Museum has been recognised as the Best Museum in the World at the seventh edition of the Mondo-Dr Awards held on 12 June in Las Vegas. Awarded by the technology and entertainment magazine of the same name, the Mondo-Dr Awards were created in 2017 to recognise the best projects in these areas worldwide, now extending this recognition to projects in the museum and exhibition sector, with a focus on design, visitor experience and technical installations.
