‘Once upon a time, there was the sea.’ This motto could serve as the headline for the blog of this boutique hotel and fine-dining restaurant, which sets sail each season from the idyllic coast of Migjorn, one of the most beautiful spots on the paradise island of Formentera.
Located in the enchanting heart of Es Arenals, next to white sandy beaches lapped by crystal-clear waters of a stunning turquoise blue, Hannah Formentera is a Mediterranean-inspired, distinctly hedonistic retreat with eighteen rooms, designed to offer exclusive seaside experiences and one of the island’s finest sunsets. The project, which opened in 2025 with direct access to the beach, has been brought to life by Víctor Agudo and Óscar Romero, who decided to create a highly personal concept that combines contemporary hospitality, fine dining and a deep connection with Formentera’s stunning natural surroundings. Hannah Formentera is guided by a philosophy of life that prioritises freedom, creativity and enjoyment; it is the perfect place for travellers keen to indulge in pleasure and a relaxed lifestyle, far removed from any kind of social convention.
A dream boutique hotel
Hannah Formentera’s architecture reflects the island’s rhythm; it is a feast for the senses that engages with the Mediterranean landscape, to which the hotel’s distinctive, mischievous spirit adds a touch of irreverence. The result is a space that defies categorisation, blending natural materials with a vibrant colour palette. Red takes centre stage here, breaking away from the organic trend and radiating an unapologetic personality in every corner. This attention to detail is also evident in the names chosen for the rooms, all of which are female names; as well as in the careful selection of every lamp, piece of furniture—mostly vintage items hand-picked one by one at Madrid’s Rastro market—and material. Everything at Hannah Formentera tells a story.
The layout of the rooms has been carefully designed to ensure exceptional comfort, privacy and an unforgettable experience.
The Roof Top Suite actually comprises two adjoining, fully equipped rooms, each measuring 45 square metres, plus a 195-square-metre terrace offering magnificent views stretching from Migjorn Beach to Cap de Barbaria, with incredible sunsets.
The Sea Level Rooms are bright, 37-square-metre rooms with a private terrace, located on the ground floor of the building; they are comfortable and offer direct access to the beach.
The Junior Suite is intimate, light-filled and cosy, a symphony of sensations deeply connected to the spirit and essence of the island, whilst still offering the feeling of freedom that flows in through the large windows overlooking the sea.
The Family Room is a family-friendly space comprising two bedrooms connected by a private corridor, making it the perfect setting for enjoying time with your family without compromising on privacy. Located on the second floor, it offers a warm, bright and comfortable atmosphere with splendid sea views.
The Blue Horizon Junior Suites, spanning 37 square metres on the first floor, offer fantastic unobstructed views of the Mediterranean from their private balconies.
The Overseas Junior Suites are spacious rooms located on the second floor, from which the connection with the sea tells a captivating story. Their private balconies offer unrivalled panoramic views, with the horizon stretching into infinity, idyllic sunsets and a colour palette featuring every shade of the sea.
The accommodation at Hannah Formentera also offers Wi-Fi, an à la carte menu, lunch and dinner service, private events, room service, a laundry service, a free shuttle service between Formentera harbour and the hotel, yoga classes and wellness treatments, a shower service, a concierge service, car and motorbike hire, a left-luggage facility and a free 24-hour gym.
A tribute to the flavours of the sea
The sea isn’t just a backdrop: at Hannah Formentera, you can feel it and taste it too.
For sailors and travellers seeking more than just a cove or stretch of beach where they can drop anchor, sheltered by unspoilt nature and its mesmerising hues, the restaurant offers a complete immersion in the essence of the sea. Here, fish and seafood take centre stage, and the experience is always enhanced by a Mediterranean lifestyle characterised by hedonism and a love of good living.
Hannah Formentera is emerging as a new culinary hotspot. A project led by Óscar Romero and Víctor Agudo, with chef Alberto Pacheco at the helm in the kitchen, this restaurant has become a culinary destination well worth a visit.
Their culinary offering pays tribute to the flavours of the sea, focusing on local, seasonal produce and fresh fish, whilst ensuring every bite is a creative delight. Every morning, the lobster caught on board the llaüt La Maja using traditional methods is brought straight to the kitchen—a gesture that encapsulates the restaurant’s philosophy: respect for the environment and a passion for the Mediterranean.
Alberto Pacheco, who has previously worked on projects such as Estimar in Madrid, understands the sea like few others. His cuisine is an in-depth journey that combines the fishing traditions of the Pitiusans islands with the creativity of haute cuisine. The produce is not sourced through middlemen, but comes directly from the La Maja llaüt and the island’s traditional fishing boats, which supply the kitchen with freshly caught lobster and other delicacies every morning. For diners who appreciate excellence, Hannah Formentera features rockfish, the aforementioned lobster and shellfish as the stars of the menu. Highlights include dishes such as lobster with garlic, fried eggs and potatoes; grilled Mero with whisky sauce or red prawn dressed with saffron escabeche and its coral, dishes that demonstrate precise technique and an absolute respect for the ingredients, and which always evoke the purity of the sea.
The experience aboard the Hannah would not be complete without an extensive and exquisite wine list, featuring world-class wines, designed to complement the savoury flavours of Pacheco’s cuisine.
So, heading to Hannah Formentera will make any trip worthwhile.
