Located in Barcelona’s L’Avellà valley and only sixty kilometres from the city of Barcelona, in addition to its wine and gastronomic offerings, you can admire the remains of the ancient 11th century chapel of Sant Andreu de L’Avellà, which can be reached via a bucolic path that takes you to the L’Avellà viewpoint, offering wonderful panoramic views of the entire estate.
Casa Gran 1771, delicacy and comfort for an unforgettable stay
Located in a stately house dating back to the 14th century and rebuilt in 1771, Casa Gran 1771 is the result of a thorough and respectful renovation carried out in 2021 in which unique elements such as the stone arcades, original beams, Renaissance mouldings and even an old wine press were preserved.
The delicate interior design and the neutral tones in which the ten comfortable rooms of the hotel are decorated highlight the charm and essence of the stone, wood and ambient light, natural elements that integrate them. Each with its own essence, all have their own balcony or terrace, some are romantic suites with free-standing bathtubs, and some have private outdoor areas.
The rooms at Casa Gran 1771, characterised by an abundance of natural light, are fully equipped with a coffee machine, minibar, safe and own-brand amenities made from natural elements such as olive oil, grape extract and rosehip.

Delicious market cuisine
The Chalet 1902 of MontRubí, a historic building from the early 20th century, houses the restaurant, where you can enjoy contemporary and market cuisine in which flavour and seasonal products are the true protagonists. Their natural and fresh dishes are a tribute to seasonal and kilometre 0 produce, as they are made with products from their own vegetable garden and from local farmers and livestock breeders. Gastronomic delicacies that are naturally accompanied by different organic wines of local varieties that bear the signature of MontRubí.
This elegant space also houses the cosy Wooden Lounge, the wine shop and the Wine Bar which, with its magnificent terrace overlooking the vineyards, is the ideal setting for enjoying tastings and pairings with local products.
MontRubí, pioneer in the recovery of autochthonous varieties
The origins of wine production in the Avellà valley go back to the 18th century, when a winery was founded to produce eau-de-vie and oils that were exported to Cuba.
It was in 1984 when the Peris family recognised the historical value of the winery and the potential of the territory, founding the MontRubí winery, which produces organically grown high altitude wines.
MontRubí is a pioneer in the recovery of the native Sumoll grape variety, which was once widespread in Catalonia, on an estate of one hundred hectares, forty of which are vineyards distributed over thirty-five plots. The Gaintus project, which has shaped the solid basis of the philosophy that has brought success to the winery, was born in 2001 with the world’s first single varietal red Sumoll.
Since then and up to the present day, the Peris family’s project has grown with milestones such as the market launch in 2010 of the first vintage of young Black & White single-varietal wines, exported to more than twenty-two countries; the renovation and expansion of the winery, equipping it with the latest technology and building a new ageing room in 2018; the inauguration of the Chalet 1902 in 2020 and Casa Gran 1771 in 2021.
MontRubí offers different experiences to satisfy the tastes and interests of all its visitors.
